How to Conquer the Spirit of Heaviness

Isaiah 61:3

This spirit is a strongman with the following demons reporting to him:

Excessive Mourning - Isaiah 61:3, Luke 4:18

Sorrow-Grief – Nehemiah 2:2, Proverbs 15:13

Self-Pity – Psalm 69:20

Insomnia – Nehemiah 2:2

Broken –Heart- Psalm 69:20, Proverbs 12:18; 15:3, 13; 18:14, Luke 4:18

Despair-Dejection-Hopelessness – II Corinthians 1:8,9

Depression – Isaiah 61:3

Suicidal Thoughts – Mark 9

Inner Hurts – Torn Spirit – Luke 4:18, Proverbs 18:14; 26:22

“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; Isaiah 61:3.

The spirit of heaviness tries to take our joy of living by loading us down with heaviness. He attempts to move in when we are mourning and keep us in an abnormal state of perpetual grief.

Self-pity sets in because circumstances of friendships have not worked out the way we had designed for them to work. Loneliness strikes us and we are tempted to retreat into a shell and give up. But remember, all of this is not God working in our life but the destroyer.

When thou passest *through the waters, I (Lord God) will be with thee (You); and

* through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee (You)” Isaiah 43:2

The GARMENT of PRAISE is the MOST EFFECTIVE deterrent against the spirit of heaviness and its related symptoms of insomnia, depression, loneliness and self-pity. God inhabits the praises of His people Psalm 22:3.

When the enemy shall come in like a flood; the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him” Isaiah 59:19.

* Through means that you’re not going to stay or be consumed or overtaken

Don’t yield to those dark moods and depressions. Use the word of God like the Sword that it is to slash away at the enemy who is robbing you of the joy, peace and contentment that should be yours as a child of God.

When the symptoms of depression start, just loose the Garment of Praise and the Oil of Joy to cover you from head to toe.

*Allow praise to flow from your thoughts and mouth. Use your prayer language.

*allow means that only you have the POWER to DECIDE to praise God or not, from your thoughts and mouth. You can decide to praise Him or not to praise Him.

What are you going to do????

What did Job do???

  • Job 1:20 1) fell to the ground 2) worshiped

  • Job 1:21 3) Confession – Belssed be the name of the Lord

Reject those thoughts of self-pity and to make praise to You a way of life from this time forth.

Satan, in the Name of Jesus I bind your spirit of heaviness according to Matthew 18:18 that promises, ….whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: I recognize that you have taken advantage of me. Now I resist you in the Name of Jesus.

James 4:7 says, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Go, in the Name of Jesus and don’t bother coming back again.

Thank you, Father, for delivering me from the trap of the enemy. According to Matthew 18:18 that says, ….whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, I * loose the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, the Garment of Praise and the Oil of Joy. I * praise Your Holy Name. Thank you Jesus for Your Goodness and Mercy to me. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer.

* Note the larger “ I YOU HAVE THE POWER

Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (YOU), 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. KJV
